'John'

"Your greatest asset is your power to think." I met John in front of a building in downtown Boston, where he was sitting on a bench, minding his own business, when suddenly a rude Dane asked for his portrait - which he wouldn't give without a fight.

John asked me what on earth I would get out of a portrait of him. "No one wants to look at old people. They want something young, something fresh, something interesting! What else can I tell you..."

I told him that I found old people interesting. He didn't believe me.

"You certainly won't get rich off of photos of old people - no, one should consider going into fashion; that's where the money is! What else can I tell you..."

I was quick to tell him that I wasn't interested in money, but he cut me off;

"Liability and assets. That's what it's all about. You have to make sure you get more in, than what you put out there; invest in old photos! They will grow in value. And get some contacts in the fashion-industry. They make a lot of money, you know - you just need to know the right people."

I smiled and nodded.

"What else can I tell you..."

Amazing. I love the expressions you always manage to catch, it's hard but you do it, with such great detail and depth. You should be really proud of this photograph.

this is incredible...

and I enjoyed reading the story about him. Sometimes old people hold so much wisdom.
He sounds kind of humorous too.

Awesome, just great. I didn't even know it was possible to get those tones from human skin.

Thank you for including the story as well. Almost sounds as if he was a photographer in his day who chose the "wrong" path over the money.
